For David’s 30th birthday, we wanted to do a big trip to celebrate. So we looked into all sorts of destinations, from Denali National Park in Alaska to Universal Studios in Florida. Eventually, we decided on doing a week in Utah to see the Mighty Five, which include:
WHY UTAH?
The Utah landscape features amazing rock formations and jaw-dropping scenery, making it absolutely worth visiting! Additionally, the National Parks all feature many hikes at various difficulties, which means people of all ages and fitness levels can enjoy these incredible views. In our “Utah in a Week” series, we will share our itineraries to help you plan one of the best weeks and road trips of your life. Your experience may differ depending on the time of year as well as other natural circumstances. For example, a trail for a hike we were hoping to do was washed out while we were there, so we had to improvise!
Whether you just use our itineraries as a starting point or follow it step by step, we hope you get to experience the Mighty Five some day. (And as a bonus, we were able to add Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado into our week as well. It actually ended up being one of our favorite national parks!)
DON'T FORGET YOUR NATIONAL PARKS PASS!
Which reminds us, be sure to get a National Parks annual pass before this trip! You will easily get your money’s worth. And if you have a 4th grader, you can get an annual pass for free! There are also passes for seniors, military service members, and those with disabilities.
