We are David, Karen and Baby T, the travel-loving team behind Family Boarding Pass. Our blog focuses on realistic ways to make traveling with family a big part of your life.

We’re more or less your average family. We are married with a baby and live in the Chicago area with normal full-time jobs. David is lucky to work for a company that has a generous and flexible time-off policy. But Karen is an elementary school teacher. This means we have to get creative about how we travel during the school year. While we are able to take longer trips during school breaks, that’s usually not the ideal times to travel. In other words, more expensive and more crowded.

But we’re proof that it’s still possible for families to frequently travel. Even if you aren’t digital nomads, incredibly wealthy, live in an RV or have unlimited vacation time. We maximize long weekends and vacation with a good balance of budgeting. Planning ahead and spontaneity also have allowed us to meet many of our travel goals. We definitely value experiences over things. So we frequently choose to forego birthday and Christmas gifts to save for another trip instead!
